Cheap no frills food, just OK flavor Dumplings were alright, hot and juicy Noodles were bland, the sauce was watery and did not stick. Space is small, 4 tables 12 seats you might have to share a table

Great tasting dumplings but not fresh. Went during a slow time and definitely felt like I was given dumplings that had been made a while ago. A great dumpling should be burn-your-tongue-hot, have a crispy bottom, and make you wait to be cooked - three things these dumplings did not. However, seasoned perfectly. Suspect they would be outstanding if they were served fresh. Same issue with sesame pancake - had been sitting so was a bit too greasy. Will give another shot.

Super delicious and really good value. The pork pan fried dumpling was really good and I would come here again for it. The filling has flavor so you don’t have to dip it in soy sauce. The beef noodle soup was OK. The beef was delicious however I didn’t like how the noodles weren’t fresh and they were store-bought. I didn’t like the vegetable soup dumpling. The vegetables were crispy. I got a lychee drink, and that was three dollars

North Dumpling recently moved down the block into a bigger space, and it’s a nice upgrade. Service is friendly and fast, and if you can snag a table, definitely do it. The veggie dumplings are pretty ginger-forward, which might not be for everyone, but they’re still really flavorful. I also appreciate that they have vinegar on the table alongside the usual soy sauce and hot sauce—it’s a small touch that makes a difference.

Super crowded with very few tables. Not a place to sit and chat for a long time. Eat and leave quickly. I recently did a taste test comparison of this place vs North Dumpling on Division Street and this location won easily. I ordered sesame pancake plain, hot and sour soup and 10 fried pork and chive dumplings at each location. Essex Street location beat the Division Street location in every single item 1) Dumplings had thinner skin 2) Hot and sour soup was less gloopy here 3) Pancake was lightly crisp and fluffier Although Division Street had a slightly better crust on their dumplings, the thick dough and uneven crispness detracted from the dumpling. The Essex Street dumplings had almost no crunch on the skin but the thinness and moderate amount of meat was more enjoyable.
